KHASHOGGI: Saudi detains 18 people, dismisses 5 senior govt officials

Turkish authorities have revealed that an international investigation into the gruesome murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi has been launched.

That much information was revealed by Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu who said through state-owned media that steps in that direction will be taken in the coming days.

“There are Western countries trying to cover this case up. I know the reasons. We know and see what sorts of deals are made. We see how those who spoke of freedom of press are now covering this up after seeing money,” Anadolu quoted him as saying.

“We, however, will go until the end. We made preparations for an international investigation in the coming days and we will take the necessary steps,” he was cited as saying.

Recall that Khashoggi went missing on October 2, 2018 after a visit to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and it was later established that he was murdered inside the consulate by a Saudi hit squad in a rogue operation.
