TURKEY: Police in manhunt for nightclub shooter

The police in Turkey has launched a manhunt for a gunman who attacked a nightclub in Istanbul killing no less than 39 people in the crowded watering hole during New Year’s celebrations.

The attacker is still at large after the incident in which 70 others were wounded, with three of those people in critical condition in the New Year’s Eve shooting rampage at upmarket Reina club.

Describing the incident, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said the attack was a “massacre, a truly inhumane savagery”.

“Our security forces have started the necessary operations. God willing, he will be caught in a short period of time,” Soylu said.
