Turkey: Two militants blow themselves up, one on the run

A wild drama played out in a remote area in the Turkish capital of Ankara when two militants, believed to be a male and a female detonated explosives, killing themselves moments after police called them to surrender.

The suspects according to CNN Turk and other broadcasters, were believed to have been in possession of plastic explosives and 200 kg (440 pounds) of ammonium nitrate, and are being linked to the armed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

Reports also reveal that a third suspect who is on the run is being sought by police.

The state-run Anadolu Agency said the two militants were preparing to carry out a car bomb attack when the blast occurred in countryside on the road from Ankara to the town of Haymana.
