Turkish police HQ hit by truck bomb, 8 killed, dozens wounded

Pandemonium struck in the Turkish town of Cizre close to the Syrian border when a bomb laden truck rammed into police headquarters in the area killing eight police officers and wounded 45 others.

Rescue officials in ambulances and helicopters thronged the scene of the incident following the attack which was followed by a gun battle between police and the attackers.

Moments after the attack, the incident was blamed on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), an armed group seen as a terrorist organisation by Turkey.
