Turkish police nab migrant trafficking ring

Twenty men who belong to a migrant smuggling organization have been arrested by the Turkish police.

According to officials and intelligence agencies on Wednesday, the alleged leader of the crime group, Albar Omar Tawfeek, along with others, were arrested after which several boats and vehicles were confiscated.

The arrest came after the group allegedly smuggled migrants from Afghanistan, Italy and other European countries in exchange for huge sums of money.

According to Al Jazeera, the syndicate was said to have received an average of 3,000 to 5, 000 euros per migrant.

Other items such mobile phones, SIM cards in different brand organizational documents and drugs were seized.
