Turkish police reveal photo of Nightclub attacker who killed 39 people

The photo of the main suspect involved in the New Year’s Eve attack on a popular nightclub in Istanbul which claimed the lives of 39 people has been released by police in Turkey.

The police say they are close to identifying the gunman after obtaining his fingerprints and a description of his appearance following the attack claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS).

According to newspaper reports in Turkey, the suspect who is now at large, is thought to be from a Central Asian nation and the police is now on his trail after he slipped from the scene of the attack at the Reina club early on Sunday, taking advantage of the chaos that ensued after he opened fire.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said that the country’s state of emergency – which was already in place at the time of the attack – would be extended for as long as needed.
