Twin explosions rock Zamfara communities, leave trail of destruction
A series of explosive devices believed to have been planted by bandits have rocked the Dansadau District of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, leaving a trail of destruction and panic in the communities.
According to eyewitnesses, at least two explosive devices went off at separate locations in the Dansadau district on Friday, causing widespread fear and anxiety among the residents.
One of the explosions occurred on the road between Dansadau and Malamawa, while another went off on Malele Road, both in the Dansadau district. A resident, Nuhu Babangida, described the scene of the explosion on the road between Dansadau and Malamawa.
“We were on our way to the Dansadau weekly market on Friday when our Canter Truck, loaded with grains, ignited the bomb,” Mr. Babangida said. “We were lucky to have escaped with our lives. The explosion was massive, and it shook the entire area.”
Mr. Babangida also reported that the explosions on Malamawa and Malele roads went off simultaneously but recorded no casualties.

This is not the first time that the Dansadau Emirate has experienced such incidents. In fact, this is the third explosion in five days in the area. On Wednesday, at least 12 people were reportedly killed when an explosive blew off a bridge at Tashar Sahabi.
The victims were traveling in an overloaded Golf car to Gusau from Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State when the incident occurred at about 8 a.m. at the Maru LGA.
The police spokesperson in Zamfara, Yazeed Abubakar, is yet to issue a formal statement on the matter.
The repeated explosions in the Dansadau Emirate have raised concerns about the safety and security of the people in the area. The government has been called upon to take urgent action to address the situation and prevent further incidents.
As one resident noted, “We are living in fear. We don’t know when the next explosion will occur. The government needs to do something to protect us.”
The Zamfara State government has been facing criticism for its handling of the security situation in the state. The government has been accused of not doing enough to address the root causes of the insecurity, which has led to the proliferation of bandits and other criminal elements in the state.
In response to the criticism, the government has promised to take decisive action to address the security situation in the state. However, the repeated explosions in the Dansadau Emirate have raised doubts about the government’s ability to fulfill its promises.
