Two cops killed as robbers attack CBN bullion van
Gunmen suspected to be robbers killed two mobile policemen attached to a convoy of bullion vans belonging to the Central Bank of Nigeria along Jos – Abuja expressway.
Reports say the convoy accompanying the bullion van had just left Jos, Plateau state and was heading to Abuja when they suddenly ran into the gunmen dressed in army uniforms somewhere along Hawan Kibo who engaged them in a gun battle.
Following the shootout, a police officer attached to the Patrol team was gunned down while another accompanying one of the CBN Bullion vans was also killed in the gun duel.
One of the policemen who was killed was identified as Sgt. Anthony Jawa, from Mobile Police Squad (MOPOL) 8, Jos.
ASP Tyopev Terna, Police Public Relations Officer, for Plateau State who confirmed the shooting, said he could not ascertain the number of policemen killed following the shootout as he was yet to receive a full report of the incident.
