U.S: Bomb scare at hotels near venue of Democratic convention campaign

Threats of a bomb attack were reported at some hotels near the Democratic National Convention (DNC) at United Centre, Chicago, US, yesterday.

The reports instilled fear in the people as it was only on July 13 that former President Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a town north of Pittsburgh.

The bomb threats was later cleared by the Secret Service.

“Law enforcement personnel cleared these locations, and no credible threats were found.

“Law enforcement continues to assess and investigate all threats and reminds the public to report any suspicious activity directly by calling 911,” the DNC 2024 Joint Information Centre said in a statement.

However, Jason Carter, a grandson of former United States President, Jimmy Carter, yesterday averred that the Democrat’s presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, embodies the ex-president’s legacy.

Jason stated this when he spoke at the venue of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), United Centre in Chicago.

He noted that his grandfather “can’t wait to vote” for Harris.

Carter said: “For my grandfather, it was never about fame, recognition, accolades or awards. His legacy is measured by the lives he has touched and the good he has done.

“Kamala Harris carries my grandfather’s legacy. She knows what is right, and she fights for it.

“She understands that leadership is about service and not selfishness. My grandfather can’t wait to vote for Kamala Harris.”

Harris will be contesting against former President Donald Trump in the forthcoming November election.
