U.S. lifts economic sanctions against Iran

In what is described as new dawn of bilateral relationship, the U.S. has lifted economic sanctions against Iran in a move which is coming after the UN’s atomic watchdog announced that Tehran has complied with the terms of last July’s landmark nuclear deal.

The accord was signed in Vienna on Saturday and championing the process as the diplomatic achievement unfolded were the US Secretary of State John Kerry, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and other officials.

Moments after the international sanctions were lifted, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said it was a “glorious victory” for the “patient nation of Iran”.
