UBEC provides 28 schools in Taraba with facilities

In a bid to provide a conducive learning environment for pupils, the Taraba state government has provided 28 public primary schools in the state with a total of 2,520 tables and chairs.

The intervention project is an initiative of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in conjunction with the state government.

Distributing the facilities to the benefiting schools at Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jaljngo, Taraba state capital, the chairman Universal Basic Education, Taraba state Mr. Yakubu Agbaizo warned the beneficiaries to protect and guild the learning facilities jealously against vandalism and improper use for the benefit of the pupils.

North Executive Chairman, of the State UBEC, Yakubu Agbaizo while inspecting the furniture at Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo disclosed that the furniture were purchased at the cost of N72 million through a counterpart fund paid by the state government.

He said “The furniture are meant to make learning easier for children. It’s sad to see children sitting on the floor to learn. “If a child is used to sitting on a stone at home, he said.

The benefitting schools are spread across 13 local government areas of the state.

The project which cost 72 million naira is funded by primarily by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) with the state government providing 25% of the funds.
