UCL:  Ajax edge out Juve to reach semi-final

Dutch team, Ajax Amsterdam on Tuesday edged out Juventus to qualify for the 2019 Champions League.

Ajax qualification is their first since 1997 as Matthijs de Ligt’s second-half header secured ended the second leg match at   2-1 in Turin.

The two teams had earlier played a one all draw in Amsterdam a fortnight ago.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who was hoping for a sixth Champions League crown, opened scoring with a 28th minute header that put Juve ahead. However, Donny Van de Beek equalised for the visitors just before half time.

Centre-back De Ligt made it 2-1 midway the second, ending the match 3-2 on aggregate.

The win has set Ajax for a semi-final clash with either Manchester City or Tottenham.
