UCL: Madrid take control of Bayern tie with away win

Defending chmpions, Real Madrid are in control of their Champions League semi-final tie against Bayern Munich as they cme from behind to seal a 2-1 victory in the first leg in Germany.

From the start of the game on Wednesday night, Real struggled defensively as they trailed from 28 minutes when Joshua Kimmich fired Bayern ahead.

But Marcelo levelled both sides before the break, before Marco Asensio scored the winner after 12 minutes into the second half at Allianz Arena.

Marcelo smashed home a half-volley from the edge of the penalty area while Asensio capitalised on an error by Rafinha to score a breakaway goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal ruled out for handball as his run of scoring in every game of this year’s competition ended.

The Zinedine Zidane’s men are looking to win the Champions League for the third successive season, which would make them the first team to win three consecutive European Cups since Bayern in 1976.

But Bayern must now score at least twice in the return leg at the Bernabeu next Tuesday to prevent Real reaching a fourth final in five years.
