Ex Nigeria international, Ifeanyi Udeze has urged Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun to leave Premier League club, Brighton in January.

The defender has been lacking playing time at the club he joined in May 2018, having made no appearance in the Premier League since the start of this season.

Balogun, who barely makes the bench, was again absent in Brighton’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park in Monday’s PL game.

“I think it’s time for him to leave Brighton and go to a club where he will be playing regularly,” Udeze said on Brila FM.

Balogun has represented Nigeria in major tournaments, including the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Udeze, who also represented Nigeria at the 2002 and 2004 AFCON and at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, insisted that the 31-year-old “should be in a team where he should be playing.”

“The good thing is that the January transfer window is not too far again, so it will be an opportunity for him to switch because as it is now I’m really getting worried for him at Brighton,” he added.

Balogun signed a two-year deal with Brighton in 2018 and made his competitive debut, coming on as an early substitute against Manchester United.

He has scored a goal for the club.
