The London Metropolitan Police is reported to be neck deep into investigating the death of Nikolai Glushkov who was wanted by Russia for financial fraud.

Reports say the counter-terrorism unit of the Metropolitan Police is treating the death of the businessman as unexplained and have put detectives in charge of the case “as a precaution because of associations that the man is believed to have had”.

According to Andrei Borovkov, counsel to the deceased, his client who was a prominent critic of Kremlin, mysteriously died in London and he was unaware of the time and circumstances.

Glushkov’s death is coming a day after UK Prime Minister, Theresa May accused Russia for being responsible for the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia who are both said to be in critical condition.

According to May, it is “highly likely” that Russia was responsible for the condition of the double agent and his daughter who were both poisoned with a military grade nerve agent developed by Moscow.
