Gernot Rohr is looking forward to starting a new stage with the Super Eagles as they face Ukraine in an international friendly match on Tuesday.

Rohr’s team are coming together for the first time since their Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Egypt, where they finished third.

The Eagles will take on the Europeans at the Dnipro Arena to kick start their preparations ahead of the 2021 AFCON qualifying games, and Rohr says he is looking forward to a good game.

“This match is the beginning of our preparations for the qualifying round of the next Africa Cup [of Nations],” the Franco-German gaffer said.

“Our team has been updated, and now we have a very young team. With a new captain.

“I really want to successfully start our new stage, so I hope to see a good game in the match with Ukraine, which, most likely, will reach the European Championship.”

Football legend, Andriy Shevchenko will be leading the Ukrainian side against the Eagles tonight.

It is also worthy of note that the Ukraine’s national team have never lost to an African team in history.

The kickoff of tonight’s friendly match is 7:30pm (Nigerian time).
