ULTIMATUM OVER RUGA: MASSOB challenges Buhari to disown northern youths, arrest their leaders

Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to disown the ultimatum of the Northern youths, and also arrest their leaders if he wants Nigerians to take his government fight against insecurity serious.

The group stated this in its reaction to the recent 30 days ultimatum handed to Buhari’s government, by a coalition of northern youths, to implement the suspended Ruga settlement project for herders in the 36 states of the country.

According to the South East group, the controversial suspended Ruga settlement was borne out of “the hypocrisy of the APC-led Federal Government of President Muhammadu Buhari.”

MASSOB stated this in a statement by its leader, Uchenna Madu. It vowed to resist any effort in the future to implement the policy in South East, adding that they have “mapped out strategies to dismantle such implementation.”

The group said, “The policies of the administration of Buhari led Federal Government since its inception in 2015 which has been planned to favoured his Fulani kinsmen at the detriment of Nigerians and his insincere Nigerian unity quest has justified our agitations and other pro-Biafra groups for the Sovereign State of Biafra.

“MASSOB therefore, demands that President Buhari disown the ultimatum of the Northern youths, arrest their leaders, and make them face the wrath of the law before Nigerians will take him seriously in the fight against insecurity.”
