Umahi suspends Auditors-General for dereliction of duty
Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, on Monday indefinitely suspended two officials of the state government for dereliction of duty.
The officials – the state’s Auditor-General, Innocent Nweda, and the Auditor General for Local Government in the state, George Ukpai, were accused of failing to prepare the annual audited accounts of the state and local government.
The Secretary to the State Government, Kenneth Ugbala, who disclosed this in a statement, said the duo had been directed to hand over to senior officers in their various offices.

The statement read:
“The governor had asked Nweda to hand over to the next most senior officer in rank. He also directed Dr. U. A. Udu to take over as Acting Auditor General for local government until further notice.”
