Unknown gunmen have kidnapped Napoleon Alale, an 80-year-old man in Bayelsa State.

The son of the kidnapped octogenarian, Embeleakpo Alale, is the chairman of Sagbama Local Government Area of the state.

The men of the underworld were said to have stormed Agbere, the country home of the old man at riverside settlement in the council area and abducted him.

It was learnt they stormed the place few minutes after 12 mid night of Friday and shot sporadically to scare people away.

A vigilante member on duty in the area, it was learnt got shot on the process. The wounded vigilante member, is said to be in a critical condition in an undisclosed hospital.

The media aide to the council boss, Nikade Anderson, confirmed the incident in a statement.

He said kidnappers were yet to contact the family members.

Police spokesman in the state, Mr. Asinim Butswat has also confirmed the incident.
