Suspected cultists kill five in Imo community

News has broken out that unknown gunmen have abducted the Ondo State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ABC) Bisi Ogungbemi; senatorial candidate, Jide Ipinsagba; woman leader Princess Funmi Abdulraman and two other party executives.

Sources revealed that the victims were waylaid around 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Oba Akoko along the notorious and dilapidated Ikare-Owo road in the northern senatorial district of the state.

They were reportedly returning from a political meeting held at Ikare Akoko, the hometown of the senatorial candidate of the party in the state, Jide Ipinsagba.

The poor state of the road has been linked to several heinous activities of hoodlums and miscreants on the road in recent times.

According to reports, commuters on this route were on Tuesday evening robbed by armed men prior to the kidnap of the politicians.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRP) in the state, Femi Joseph confirmed the incident saying investigation was underway to search for the victims.

Meanwhile, a house of assembly candidate of the party seeking to represent Owo Constituency 2, Hon. Olupona Joseph hinged the incident on the deplorable state of the road while he assured that the party members were working to ensure the release of their colleagues.
