Trump signs new travel ban, excludes Iraq

Unperturbed, US President Donald Trump is now considering signing a new executive order banning citizens of certain countries from travelling to the United States after his initial attempt was blocked.

The businessman turned politician revealed the move when he announced the possibility of a “brand new order” that could be issued as soon as Monday or Tuesday, in a surprise talk with reporters aboard Air Force One late on Friday, as he and the Japanese premier headed to his estate in Florida for the weekend.

Trump’s hint of his new tact which gave no details is coming a day after he suffered another legal setback when a US appeals court refused to reinstate a ban on travellers from seven predominantly Muslim countries.

The unanimous decision was reached by a panel of three judges from the San Francisco-based 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals who all declined to block a lower-court ruling that suspended the ban and allowed previously barred travellers to enter the US.
