US begins detention of Muslim arrivals

The dictates of an executive order signed by newly sworn-in President of the United States of America, Donald Trump at the Pantagon on Saturday has come into practice with the halting of Muslim arrivals into America.

According to reports, the first Muslim arrivals were detained at American airports, some of whom already had been aboard their flights when Trump announced his executive order closing America’s borders to refugees.

Moments after signing the executive order into law, Trump said; “I’m establishing new vetting measures to keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States of America. Don’t want them here”.

Banning Muslims from entering America was one of the campaign promises of Trump and the latest move shows he means business.

Meanwhile, Mexican telecommunications billionaire Carlos Slim has called Trump’s bluff saying the business mogul turned politician is “no Terminator” but rather a wily negotiator.

Slim said his country was in a “strong position” amid a diplomatic spat between the neighbours, after Trump announced plans to build a wall along the US’ southern border and insisted that Mexico would pay for it.

“The negotiations will be challenging, difficult,” he said at a press conference in his office in Mexico City. “But Mexico is the best possible partner for the US. The US needs Mexican workers,” he said.
