US, China, S’Korea okay UN sanctions slammed on N’Korea

The United States of America, China and South Korea have both lauded sanctions recently slammed on defiant North Korea by the United Nations with the three countries describing it as a good outcome.

Rex Tillerson, US Secretary of State on Sunday praised the approval of new UN sanctions agreed a day earlier, calling the move a “very good outcome”, while South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha echoed Tillerson’s praise for the approved sanctions as a “very, very good outcome”.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the sanctions were the right response, but repeated a call for dialogue.

24 hours ago, the UN Security Council voted unanimously to impose new sanctions on North Korea, which bans mineral and seafood exports worth more than $1bn.

Moments after the sanctions were imposed on North Korea, Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the UN, praised the move, telling council members after the vote that it is “the single largest economic package ever leveled against the North Korean regime.”

The sanctions, aims to deprive Pyongyang of export revenue, banning mineral and seafood exports worth more than $1bn.
