President Donald Trump’s declaration of a national emergency to build a wall on the United States border with Mexico may not see the light of day after all.

According to reports, the US House of Representatives voted on Tuesday to revoke Trump’s national emergency declaration.

The Democratic Majority house rejected Trump’s assertion in a 241-182 vote handing Trump a stinging rebuke on his signature issue.

The latest development comes after Trump’s move to invoke emergency powers in his bid to get funds to help erect US-Mexico border wall which costs $5.7bn to build, had forced 16 US states to slam him (Trump) with a lawsuit.

Trump’s national emergency declaration to fund his promised wall forced the hand of the 16 states which filed a suit in US District Court for the Northern District of California on Monday.

In a statement, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said the lawsuit alleges the Trump administration’s action violates the Constitution.
