Trump fires Tillerson, after cutting short his visit to Nigeria

Rex Tillerson, the U.S. Secretary of State has offered to settle the now frosty relationship between America and Russia even as he noted that it is needles for both countries to cut ties over disagreements.

Tillerson made the comments in a meeting with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov saying he sees Moscow’s relations pragmatically and believed problems could be addressed.

Speaking with Lavrov, Tillerson told reporters that Russia had indicated “some willingness” to talk and find ways to move forward on the thorny issue of the Ukraine and also added that Moscow needed to understand that meddling in elections was a very serious issue.

Recall about eight days ago, that the United States Senate approved additional measures to expand economic sanctions against Russia, as well as against Iran and North Korea.

Days later, Russia responded to the additional sanctions on Moscow approved by the US Congress by expelling no less than 755 American diplomats while also vowing to impose additional sanctions.

Explaining his decision in an interview relayed on state television on Sunday, Putin said he ordered the move because he “thought it was the time to show that we’re not going to leave that without an answer”.

Russia has been condemned by the US for its alleged hacks aimed at swaying the November 8, 2016 election for Trump but Moscow has repeatedly denied interfering both in the French election by hacking and leaking emails and documents of U.S. intelligence agencies during the last elections.
