US using Iran protest for its own agenda, Russia's ambassador to the UN claims

Hours after slamming the United States for convening a UN Security Council meeting over the unending violent protests in Iran, Russian Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia has for the second time in one day lashed out at the US.

This time, Russian ambassador to the UN claims the United States is exploiting the protests in Iran in order to derail the landmark nuclear deal with the Middle East country.

“The United States is abusing the platform of the Security Council. Let Iran deal with its own problems,” Nebenzia said.

“The real reason for convening today is not protect human rights or promote the interests of the Iranian people, but rather a veiled attempt to continue to undermine the Iranian nuclear agreement.

Earlier on, Nebenzia ferociously criticised the move by the US to convene a UN Security Council meeting over the unending violent protests in Iran.

Reacting to the move made by the US, Nebenzia said involving the council in an “internal affair” damaged the top UN body.

Iran’s chief prosecutor Mohammad Jafar Montazeri has also accused CIA, Israel, Saudi for fueling violent anti-government protests that have swept through Iran and left as much 22 people dead and left many others injured.

According to Iran’s prosecutor, the CIA agent was the “main projector” of deadly demonstrations in Iran with assistance from Israel and Saudi Arabia.
