The Appeal Court has affirmed Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu as the duly elected senator representing Imo North senatorial district.
The appellate court sitting in Owerri, the Imo State capital and headed by Justice S.J. Adah agreed with the earlier ruling of the election tribunal on petitions challenging Uwajumogu’s victory during the last National Assembly election.
The court dismissed the appeals filed by the candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Action Alliance (AA) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The judge said that the petitions filed by other candidates in the outcome of the senatorial election in Imo-North lacked merit and could not be substantiated.
Uwajumogu was a former speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly. He represented Imo-North at the 8th Senate under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was declared the winner of the senatorial election in the zone during the last general election.
