UYO: Super Eagles face Benin Republic as race to Cameroon 2021 begins

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will Wednesday begin their race to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as they battle Benin Repulic at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Nigeria finished as third best team at the 2019 edition of the continental tournament in Egypt, with Algeria beating Senegal to emerge champions.

The qualifiers for the next edition of the biennial showpiece begins today for the Geernot Rohr team, who take on their Beninese counterparts.

After missing the friendlies against Ukraine and Brazil, team captain Ahmed Musa has returned, and will lead the pack in Uyo.

“I feel good to be back in the team, starting the game is not my priority,” he told a news conference in Akwa Ibom on Tuesday.

The clash with the Squirrels of Benin will kick off by 5:00p.m.
