Van Dijk, Ronaldo, Messi make final shortlist for Best FIFA Awards

Netherlands and Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk could be winning a second big award following an unforgettable season as he has been shortlisted for the Best FIFA Awards.

The Dutch star was crowned the UEFA men’s player of the year, beating Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to the award in Monaco last Thursday.

He has been shortlisted alongside the duo once again by the world’s football governing body to battle for the prize, which is in its fourth year.

Meanwhile, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp and Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino are the final three for the men’s coach award.

For the women’s player award, Uefa award winner, Lucy Bronze is also competing for the Fifa title.

The winners will be announced in a ceremony in Milan on 23 September.
