The government of Edo State has ordered that principals of 28 private secondary schools in the state whose results for the West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations results were withheld, to be suspended.
This was announced in a memo by the commissioner for Education in the state, Mr. Emmanuel Agbale.
Agbale stated that the state was compelled to take the decision following the reports by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) that results of candidates who sat the exam in the school had been cancelled while the schools had been de-recognised for a period of two years.
The affected schools were then ordered to respond to query on why they should not be deregistered/dis-recognised within 72 hours.
