War on terrorism: 2 Syrians arrested in Geneva

Published

on

After three days of raising terror threat levels in Switzerland, two people carrying Syrian passports were arrested in Geneva on terror charges, the office of the Attorney General of Switzerland reveals.

The Attorney General also revealed that neither suspect was linked to the four possibly Paris-related suspects Swiss authorities were looking for in the area earlier this week.

The Syrians were arrested for “suspicion of manufacture, concealment and transport of explosives and toxic gases,” as well as on suspicion of supporting groups such as al Qaeda, ISIS and similar organizations, the Office of the Attorney General said.

“Traces of explosives were found in the suspects’ car, but it appeared that the suspects did not have explosives themselves, or toxic gas or traces of toxic gas.” Geneva Prosecutor General Olivier Jornot said at a press conference.
