Watford waits on Ighalo’s fitness for Stoke match

Watford coaching crew are battling hard to have Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, fit for the Premier League match against Stoke City billed for Saturday afternoon.

Watford medics are waiting if the 26-year-old can recover from a slight muscle problem he suffered during last Sunday’s 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final win at Arsenal.

Ighalo had to leave the action before the end of the game at the Emirates Stadium but has been training this week, with Flores set to make a final decision on his fitness on Saturday morning.

Flores said: “We have to check. At this moment we have three or four players who are recovering. My feeling is some of them will be ok but not all the players will be ready.”

The Spanish tactician is expecting a tough test against Stoke at Vicarage Road as the Hornets look to do the league double over Mark Hughes’ men.

He added: “They are a really strong team. They have really good players, their midfielders and strikers are really competitive, they have very special players with skill and power.

“They have a lot of characteristics in their attack, so we need to be clever, we need to try to stop the best reference of this team, and then play like a team and try to have a very good performance.”
