RUSSIA 2018: Rohr wants to avoid problem of bonuses and allowances

Ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifying encounters with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, shares on how vital it is for his side to win.

The German gaffer claimed that Friday’s match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, is a winner-takes-all, as the double header with the Lions will likely decide the winner of the group.

At the pre-match conference on Wednesday, Rohr mentioned that the game has been on his mind since Nigeria’s victory over Algeria last November, and had watched his opponents closely hence he is confident of victory.

“It is very simple. Four points separate us and Cameroon,” he stated.

“It is the game of our lives. We have six points and we want to win this match. If they lose, it will be difficult for Cameroon to catch us.

“I will consider the game on Friday as the first half while the second half comes up in yaounde next week. We want to win the first half so that the second half will be easy for us.”

He added: “We knew since November that we were going to play against Cameroon so we’ve had time to watch them, admire them playing, saw them win the AFCON and make a good impression at the Confederations Cup. So we are prepared for them.”

Nigeria will host Cameroon this Friday before traveling to Yaounde next week for the reverse fixture.

The Eagles are currently topping the group on 6 points, four points above Cameroon, and five above Algeria and Zambia.

Only one team will make it to the finals in Russia next year.

I’m sure Nigeria will get a win against Cameroon. The cameroonians are desperate because it will decide which country will qualify, but this time, it’s Nigeria’s turn

Super Eagle’s preparation and how’s they will play will determine if they will secure win or not. The Nigerian team cannot be depended on, they’ve failed the country several times
