We didn’t resign, Gov Tambuwal sacked us— Sokoto’s 252 aides

After 106 days without cabinet, Gov Tambuwal names 25 commissioners

A group of people claiming to be representing the 250 aides to Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State said to have resigned in a mass desertion of the governor, have come out to say the reports are untrue.

In a statement on Sunday, they claim that they did not resign as reported, but were sacked as part of the governor’s efforts to streamline government operations.

Initial reports had suggested that they resigned en masse to politically align with the Al Progressives Congress (APC) against the governor’s Peoples Democractic Party (PDP) which he recently defected to.

The full statement below:

We write to inform the public that contrary to a statement credited to us that we resigned from the services of the Sokoto State government, all appointees were actually relieved of their appointments by His Excellency Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, in his effort to reinvigorate government operations and services.
