Weary Muazu caves in to pressure, resigns

Embattled National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, after much pressure and resistance on his part has finally thrown in the towel by resigning from the position on Wednesday.
In a letter he wrote to the Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, Muazu, noted that due to the abysmal performance of the party in the 2015 general elections, it became imperative for him to leave and for peace to reign in the PDP.
In the letter, he asked Secondus to step in as acting National Chairman in line with the party’s constitution.
According to reports, Muazu said he was tired of all the stress he has been subjected to since the party lost the presidential elections. He has been outside the country for about two weeks purportedly on a medical trip.
There have been several calls for him to resign, with members of the party’s National Working Committee in the wake of the party’s performance in the last general elections. Those in the frontline of such calls have been Ayo Fayose and Femi Fani Kayode.

There are also speculations that President Goodluck Jonathan has asked members of the PDP Board of Trustees including its chairman, Chief Tony Anenih to resign.

This guy shouldn’t have waited to be forced out. Not even convinced that he has resigned. What I believe happened is that a coup was hatched to overthrow him while out of the country. Interesting how civilians also move against each other in the game of power tussle.
