If you were an art lover and thinking of seeing the much talked about work of the popular American light artist, James Turrell, then you should also consider how you’d handle nudity – yours and those of other attendees.

Guests are encouraged to be naked so that they can soak in the art works properly.

So, start paying attention to those things you hide with clothes if you are going to be one of the 150 art lovers taking part in the National Gallery of Australia’s first ever naked art tour.

But then, it is not compulsory you must be naked to see the show, because there are other times you can come and see it while fully clothed. The naked hours are only after hours on three days, April 1 – 3, and for adults only.

James Turell is famous for his use of light and space. Most of his works seems naked to the unschooled eyes. The 70-year-old American light artist’s 50 years of work includes installations purpose-built for Canberra’s National Gallery, Australia, as well as drawings, prints and photographs. And the show is fully booked already.

Guess what?, a lot of art lovers are willing to go naked for art sake.

Similar naked art shows have taken place in Japan and Australia before and seem to be increasing in popularity.
