How we'll get Nigeria out of recession --Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday spoke on programmes and plans of the Federal Government to salvage the dire economic situation in Nigeria.

According to Osinbajo, empowerment of Nigerians is at the heart of the Social Investment Programmes of the Muhammadu Buhari administration, even though it also has a social welfare component to help the people survive as they are being empowered.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Office of the Vice President, Laolu Akande, disclosed that Professor Osinbajo made this known in Davos where he is led the Nigerian delegation to the yearly World Economic Forum (WEF).

He further stated that the Buhari administration is committed to investing more in infrastructure than in previous times by ensuring that 30 per cent of the budget goes into capital expenditure.

Assuring that the Buhari administration is very confident about the recovery of the Nigerian economy, Osinbajo said “it is not difficult to get out of where we are if we understand why we are where we are.”

He added that government is working on how to tap into Nigeria’s huge Pension Fund to finance infrastructure in the country, but said “we have to first derisk” such financing models for infrastructure.

“The Vice President participated and spoke in several events … including a packed international Business Interaction Group of investors focused exclusively on Nigeria. He also spoke at a panel of Building Africa, joined by Rwandan President Paul Kagame, and televised live by the CNBC Africa,” the statement revealed.

If I’m correct, the Social investment programme the Vice President is talking about includes the daily school feeding, the N-Power scheme and the N5,000 monthly pay to poor persons.

These are what will lead us out of the recession?

Yes according to una vice president .
But no according to reasonable people like me.
All what he proffer can’t bring us out of recession. N-power scheme or SIP are just a little palliatives to recession
The simple thing out of recession is diversification of economy in practical and stabilising power supply.

If you look in between his points, you’d realise Osinbajo is more sensible than any other Vice President Nigeria has ever had. Buhari should be thankful to this man fr being his deputy

Let me advice Nigerians on how go get out of recession. Government can’t bring us out of recession. To come out of recession , is a personal thing. Do whatever you can do personally to come out of recession. Don’t wait for the government.

To get Nigeria out of recession, first we have to delete Finance Minister and put another person who won’t be using advance economics textbook to handle Nigeria
Second, erase CBN governor and replace him with someone who’s more capable and practical
Lastly, the federal government should settle with the Niger/Delta militants.
Doing all these will make Buhari’s ministers work harder and oil will return to its good state

Nigerian government always have best ideas to solve any problem facing the country, but poor ways of carrying them out. Jonathan said many things about empowering the youths during his tenure, what did the youths get? This is still the same trend Buhari is moving on… If the federal government creates 1000001 jobs, the jobs will still be subject to ‘man-know-man’. If this government can attend to the needs of a common man, this country will flourish. The gods of the common men in Nigeria are angry

The gods of common men are stupid for pushing the common men to vote in buhari as the president.
