We’ll suggest, see if Buhari'll agree to speak directly to Nigerians – Presidency

The Presidency has promised it would approach President Muhammadu Buhari to speak to Nigerians and see if he would consent to the suggestion.

This was stated by President Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Sunday on the sidelines of an interactive session with some Nigerian youths, organised by the Citizens Support for Good Governance in Nigeria.

Following the continued stay of President Buhari in London over one month, having left the country to the United Kingdom on January 19, many Nigerians have continued to demand that he address the citizens.

Pictures of many notable Nigerians like the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker Yakubu Dogara among others taken with the president and circulated in the media, have not done much to reduce the demand from Nigerians to hear directly from the president.

When the group on Sunday asked if the presidency does not think it wise to get him to talk directly to Nigerians through Nigerian media, Shehu, replied that the suggestion would be forwarded to the president to see if he would accept to do that.

He said, ‘’Okay, if you are making a suggestion, we will put it to him, in case he would agree.

Shehu also reacted to the positive steps Osinbajo has reportedly made since the President embarked on an indefinite vacation and allegations of a cabal trying to hijack government activities.

He said, ‘’this country has one government. When Nigerians voted, they voted for Buhari/Osinbajo on one ticket. Nobody can divide that ticket, so if Prof. Osinbajo achieves a milestone, it is a milestone by the Buhari administration. It is one government, no division in this government.’’

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to be grateful to President Buhari, who according to him, halted the menacing advance of the Boko Haram terrorists, “who by now might have overran the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock.”

This isn’t negotiable, Buhari should speak to Nigerians and nothing should change that. “Okay, if you are making a suggestion, we will put it to him, in case he would agree,” Buhari isn’t a monster, I can feel fear in this statement, I’m sure Buhari is not aware of how Nigerians have been clamoring to hear from him.

That is the point, President Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu and everyone who constitute the ‘Presidency’ are scared of Buhari, they cannot talk to him about anything. They should be compelling him to talk to Nigerians, not suggesting

If they are deciding for us to have our president speech, no problem at all, as we will decide too if buhari should continue to rule us or not, this is democracy where power lies in the hands of the electorates ,so we would decide his fate too. One person can’t hold 180m people to ransom.

You are funny, embassy will reject all of us because they know we have other ulterior motives behind the visit. Many Nigerians won’t ever come back home again and many will cause trouble. Well, all you said is fictitious.
