Wenger seeks City revenge, targets Top 4 finish for Arsenal

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger says his side needs to recover from their ‘disappointing’ League Cup defeat against Manchester City and prepare for the challenge ahead.

City thrashed Arsenal 3-0 to lift the EFL Cup last Sunday, a result that meant Arsenal has lost six out of 12 games in 2018, which piles pressure on Wenger.

The Gunners will host City in the Premier League on Thursday, and Wenger wants his team to focus on their top four goal this season and win the game against the leaders tomorrow.

“Our target is to finish in the top four. I want us to focus in a united way and to respond tomorrow and win the game,” Wenger said during his pre-match conference ahead of the encounter.

When asked about his future at Arsenal, Wenger said he is “amazed I still have to answer these kinds of questions.”

“I’ve turned the whole world down to respect my contracts,” he added.

“My position is the last worry I have at the moment. My worry is to get the team focused and ready for tomorrow’s game,” he said.

Arsenal are 27 points behind City and 10 adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham in the race for a Champions League place.
