Ekweremadu's whistle blower gets bail after 6 days in prison

50-year-old Ahmed Echodo has been remanded in Keffi Prison, Nasarawa State, by an Upper Area Court, in Gudu, Abuja, for allegedly giving false information that led the police to raid Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu’s Guest House in Maitama, Abuja.

Following a tip off by Echodo, the police had conducted a search on the property on May 27, before the information turned out to be false.

When the case came up in court on Tuesday, the defendant pleaded not guilty to a False Information Report.

However the presiding Chief Upper Area Court judge, Umar Kagarko, ordered that Echodo be remanded in prison until ruling on his bail application is decided on June 5.
