Why didn’t you write PDP about Kano? We must present candidates for Zamfara, Oshiomhole replies INEC

Nigerians haven't accepted PDP's apology; you can't allow a robber back into your storeroom– Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has reacted to the position of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the party will not present candidates from Zamfara State in 2019 elections.

The APC chairman said that the electoral body was inaccurate in its claim that primaries did not hold in Zamfara State. He therefore said that the ruling party is going to present candidates from the state.

INEC had in earlier letter on Wednesday to the APC chairman declared that the party was ineligible to present candidates for the governorship and National Assembly elections in Zamfara State, due to its failure to conduct primary elections there.

But responding in a letter to INEC later on Wednesday, Oshiomhole accused INEC of acting in error for barring APC from fielding candidates in Zamfara State.

According to Oshiomhole, INEC decision was based on a false premise because contrary to its claims, primaries were held in the Zamfara and candidates emerged.

He maintained that the ruling party would present candidates for the 2019 governorship and national assembly elections and it would do so before the expiration of the INEC date for the submission of names of candidates.

Oshiomhole also wondered why INEC did not write a similar letter to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over Kano, where he claimed no governorship primary held.
