Reacting to media enquiries on the reported dismissal, and jailing of a former commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force [MNJTF] in Baga,  Borno State, Brigadier General, Enitan Ransome-Kuti, the Nigerian Army said he was dismissed for among others, “failure to perform military duties”.

Ransome-Kuti, his Chief of Staff, Lieutenant Colonel G.A. Suru, and some other senior officers, were arrested for failing to repel Boko Haram attack on the MNJTF headquarters and subsequently arraigned before a military court, sitting in Mogadishu Barracks, Abuja.

The Army, in a statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman said “In reference to media enquiry on the judgment passed by a General Court Martial on Friday at Army Headquarters Garrison, I wish to confirm that one of the accused persons, Brigadier General EA Ransome-Kuti, was awarded the following punishments on the various count charges against him as follows:
