Lanre Gentry begs Mercy Aigbe to drop battery case, reports say

Lanre Gentry, the embattled husband of Mercy Aigbe who is being accused by his wife of battery and infidelity will appear in court today to answer a case of physical assault leveled against him by the Lagos State Department of Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, DSVRT.

According to Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, Coordinator of DSVRT, the law will take its due cause. She also assured that the Lagos State government would pursue the case to a logical conclusion.

The Commissioner of the Lagos State Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Lola Akande while commenting on the matter after Mercy Aigbe tabled her case before her agency said she has handed the case to the Ministry of Justice.

“I must commend Mercy’s courage, because what she did is what other women who are victims of domestic violence out there need to do. They don’t need to hide it, except they want to die,” Mrs Akande said.

Revealing how battered Mercy Aigbe was when she came to her office to report what she went through in the hands of her estrange husband, Mrs Akande said the actress was coughing blood.

“She was coughing blood from her nose and mouth and she had injury on her face which the doctor said she must have an operation,” Mrs Akande said.

Continuing, she added that; “I was so angry that I need to see the face of the man that did this to her, and so we invited him and he came yesterday (Tuesday) to say his own side of the story to the official in charge of domestic violence.

“But any man that can beat a woman to a pulp like that to the extent that she is still coughing blood one week after the incident needs to have his head examined.”

Meanwhile, Mercy Aigbe has left her matrimonial home after a video showed her moving her things out over infidelity and domestic violence accusations leveled against her husband.
