The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is set to get a new Director-General in the person of Prof. Moji Adeyeye, the wife of the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Olusola Adeyeye.

Impeccable sources have revealed that Mrs. Adeyeye, a professor of Pharmaceutics and Manufacturing Sciences, is in line to be named as the new DG of NAFDAC as early as Monday by the Federal Government.

“I can confirm to you that she has received a call from the Federal Government on her new appointment and it will be announced by either the Secretary to the Government of the Federation or the President’s spokesman,” a source said.

Adeyeye, the founder of a non-governmental organisation, Drugs for AIDS and HIV Patients, will now direct affairs at NAFDAC which has had no substantive director-general for nearly 24 months.

The agency has been steered by two acting directors-general: Mrs. Yetunde Oni and Mr. Andrew Magbojuri since the February 2016 sacking of Dr. Paul Orhii by President Muhammadu Buhari.
