With this INEC 2019 may be a dream, Wike warns
Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has alleged that the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government has been working persistently to destroy the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He however said contrary to all the scheming to kill PDP, that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), will be the party to die instead.
Wike, who accused the Federal Government of doing everything possible to rig the forthcoming rerun election in the state in favour of the APC, added that the “deliberate efforts” by proxies of the Federal Government to stagnate development in the state would only amount to futility.
The governor stated this when he received the Mr Emeka Onow-led Non-Indigenes Without Borders at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
“We have a sad situation where everything is being done at the federal level to kill the PDP. However, in the end, it is their own political party that will die.
“They are repeatedly shifting the date of the rerun elections so that they can have a convenient time to rig. Nobody should be scared of their plan to use the DSS and police to rig the rerun elections. The policeman that is carrying gun; how many people can he kill? In Turkey where they resisted the Army, are they not human beings? Nobody will circumvent the mandate of the Rivers people,” Wike said.
The governor insisted that what he did at the residence of a judge on October 8, 2016, who the DSS wanted to arrest around 1:am was not aimed at stopping the security operatives from arresting a judge, but aimed at making sure due process was followed.
