Wike, Dickson head PDP Nat’l convention committees

Published

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has finally set in motion machinery for its national convention slated for 21 May, as its National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff, on Sunday, named four special committees.

It would be recalled that while endorsing Sheriff’s position as National Chairman, major organs of the party, tasked him with the responsibility of organising a national convention to be held on May 21, after which his tenure would expire.

The National Executive Committee also on March 7, mandated him to set up the committees.

There, however, have been insinuations that Sheriff and other members of the National Working Committee, NWC, had been trying to negotiate how they will retain their positions after the May 21 convention.

Announcing the committees on Sunday, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, said the committees are the National Convention Committee, Reconciliation Committee, Zoning Committee and the Finance Committee. They are to be inaugurated on Tuesday.
