Wike is a disaster and disgrace, Peterside says

Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dakuku Peterside has described Governor Nyesom Wike of River State as a “disaster and disgrace” to the state.

Dakuku, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 governorship election in the state, said the governor has embarked on an adventure to hunt perceived political opponents through phantom recommendation of a Commission of Inquiry ahead of December 10 re-run election in Rivers State.

A statement credited to Rivers State Commissioner for Information after the state executive council meeting stated that the Attorney General had been directed to prosecute APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Honourable Asita Okorie for the alleged murder of an NYSC member at Akinima in Ahoada West Local Government Area during the March 19, 2016 rerun legislative elections.

The statement also claimed that the AG was also directed to prosecute the APC House of Reps Candidate for Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo Federal Constituency, Barry Mpigi for the alleged murder of a pregnant woman whose name given as Mrs Baby Nzuuga in Kpite Tai.

However, also in a statement, Peterside said the latest action of Wike is that of a mischievous, drowning man, clutching at anything that would make him stay afloat.

According to him, playing smart to deceive the public and cover up his own roguery has become Wike’s trademark.

Peterside who alleged that Wike was the architect of the killings and mayhem that trailed the March re-run election in the state, also asked “How can anyone in his right senses link Honourable Asita to death of the youth corps member.

“How can a governor who orchestrated the mayhem be the judge, complainant and prosecutor in his own case? The actions of Wike are unbecoming of a state chief executive and bringing ridicule to such a revered office,” Peterside stated.

Dr Peterside called on the governor to follow the path of honour and rise to the challenges of governing the state or resign if he lacks the capacity, managerial acumen and temperance to deliver the expected democratic dividends.

“If Wike has any sense of shame and conscience, he should seek for forgiveness from Rivers people and families of those who were mindlessly killed. Rivers people are indeed in one-chance of a governor who lacks the capacity to govern the state.

“No amount of propaganda, blackmail and threat will save the PDP from losing the forthcoming re-run election in the state. Rivers people shall respond by voting all APC candidates,” he summed up.
