Wike mocks Amaechi over ‘shameful’ loss in rerun polls

Governor Wike of Rivers state on Tuesday mocked his former boss, and now Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimti Amaechi over early results of the rerun polls in the state. In doing so, he also praised President Muhammadu Buhari for not interfering with the exercise.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had conferred an early lead Sunday on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), having announced them winners in 9 State Assembly seats and one seat at the Federal House of Representatives.
Addressing party members at Government House, Port-Harcourt, the governor accused Hon. Chibuike Amaechi of allegedly plotting to rig the elections, adding that the former governor came into the state noisily and left quietly after results showed he could not deliver his candidates.
“Amaechi plot to rig the rerun elections was for him to rubbish the Supreme Court Judgment. He came back to the state noisily, but left quietly and shamefully.

“No Army is stronger than the people. No police is stronger than our people. How many times will they cancel elections for the APC. Amaechi is not on ground in Rivers State “.
“Those who were overzealous during the rerun elections did so without the knowledge of the president.“
The leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State have since called for total cancellation of the rerun elections while Governor Wike and PDP have demanded that all collated results be released.
