Wike’s audio leak: Govs block DSS from monitoring calls

Published

on

Some state governors have devised new strategies to ensure that their sensitive conversations do not become public knowledge, SUNDAY PUNCH findings have revealed.

The action followed the alleged audio leak of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and his Ekiti State counterpart, Ayodele Fayose’s telephone conversation, over the recent rerun election in Rivers State.

Investigations showed that some state executives had started using WhatsApp, Facebook, and Blackberry Messenger call options to engage in sensitive conversations.

It was also learnt that some of the governors have acquired modern technological equipment, which would alert them of their calls being monitored.

A governor in the South-South geopolitical zone told one of our correspondents that the alleged leak of Wike’s telephone conversations on three occasions had forced him to take extra measures to avoid being a victim.
