Wike’s politics of lies and lies, by Amaechi

Minister for Transport, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has described Governor Nyesom Wike- led administration of rivers State as a government of lies and lies.
The former governor and current Minister of Transportation claimed he ran a transparent government as Rivers state governor, adding that he did not receive over N3 trillion revenue as alleged by Wike’s government.
“The governor of Rivers state said I squandered N3 trillion. I did not receive up to N1.8 trillion as governor both from IGR and funds from federal allocation. So, how could I have squandered money I did not even receive in the first place? You can see the politics of lies and lies.
“Wike has failed to prove the allegation of corruption leveled against me,” he said.
Amaechi said this at a stakeholders’ forum on corruption organised by the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja.
According to him, Rivers state became the first to implement the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) Act in Nigeria during his tenure.
“The state executive used to call the Director General of Public Procurement in the state as an alternative governor and that they wanted an amendment to that law. The reason they wanted amendment is that he (DG) refused to increase the threshold to N100m per ministry; instead he reduced it to N10 million,” he said.
The governor also said that transparency in the use of public funds was key to his leadership as governor, adding that his government from time to time briefed the state on how funds were utilised.
This is coming only few days after police and the Department of State Services (DSS) brokered peace between Amaechi and Wike.
